Help
People ask us lots of questions about the product so what we have done is put the questions that keep coming up and answered them below. This is updated frequently!
If you stil have question just email us help (at) tiretagz.com. We're nice people :)
Q. What comes in the box when I buy it?
A. A full contents list is in our manual found here(PDF Format)
Q. Is it heat/cold tolerant?
A. It is like any other electronics product so extreme cold and extreme heat can damage the product. However we have had it running at -25C and +40c at lengthy peroids with no problems.
Q.Is it water proof?
A. TireTagz are splashproof. If its raining its generally no problem, even heavy rain. If you drive through a river this could damage the unit. The units are not waterproof but splashproof.
Q.Are there any warranties?
A. Please read our Warranty policy (PDF format) The units have the standard 3 month warranty. Units must be sent back to the distributor with a reason for damage. Faulty units bought at retail must be sent back within 7 days with proof of purchase.
Q. What is the power source? Is it easy to change batteries?
A. They run on standard slim 3v 'button' batteries found in most hardware, camera or electronics shops. There is a slot for 2 of them but the unit can run on one 3v battery.
Q. What is the lifetime expectancy?
A. We have been running TireTagz some 3 to 4 years with no problems.
Q. Can you please give a brief description of installation process? If maybe you have it on video?
The install process requires the wheel to be removed for a one off fit, then a supplied ring is placed one side and a cap is put on the front alloy hole (you may need to remvoe the alloy 'badge') then these are secured. The unit can then be put on and off really quickly (within seconds).
A full guide can be found here (PDF Format).
Q.Are there any other colors besides red?
A. Currently TireTagz are Amber only as multi-color LEDs drains batteries really quickly.
Q. Is it free to download patterns from the website?
A. There are free patterns. Download them here. Also design images and animations with our TireTagz designer found here
Q. How easy is it to program logos in to TireTagz?
A. Its pretty easy. You need to do two stages.
Stage 1 - Choose which logos or designs go onto the actual unit from the TireTagz Designer.
Stage 2 - Then chooose which logo or desings displays on your wheel. Either select one or scroll through all 8 designs and logos.
You will need to plug the unit in and turn on and off then upload up to 8 different logos or
animations to the corresponding LED slot from the TireTagz designer found here
When uploaded place the unit on the wheel, just remember which number refers to which image on the LED slots. Write this down i.e. smily on LED2. Once it blinks on LED 2 (The Second LED from top) you know it will run that LED/ Image. This will sound confusing but once you have done it once its very easy.
Refer to the manual here (PDF Format), for more help, hints and tips.
Q. To design logos or anims What type of software is needed? Adobe illustrator? A vecterized file or bit map?
A. You can imnport file formats into the TireTagz but we dont use that feature as the clarity breaks up. We found it best to hand draw the images and use different fonts and type the text in to create the effect we want.
Q. The TireTagz Designer software used for design is a bit non-user friendly, is there any guide i can refer to, it will make things much easier, also, if you make your own design, you have to purchase it?
A. There is a manual here . All images are now free :)
Q. How do I get the reflective strip to pick up the TireTagz 'eye' on the unit. I run TireTagz but it doesnt work.
A. Check the reflective strip is clean and straight and fairly near the unit (a couple of inches max). The full guide is here (PDF Format).
